A Turkey What?!?!

So this week at school they are holding a Turkey Trot Walk-A-Thon where the kids can walk/jog around the blacktop outside for a chance to win a turkey. I had no interest in getting involved cause honestly, sometimes there is just TOO MUCH going on with school! As Bronwyn got out for the day a couple of her friends were headed over to get some laps in and she was so excited to go with them! So with punch card in hand, she started running... and running... and running... and *24* laps later she let me take her home! She loved it and is so excited to get more laps in tomorrow! Each 10 laps gets her name in the Kindergarten drawing for the turkey! She's supposed to be raising money as well, but again, sometimes it is too much! Anyway, love this little girl and her determination! I'll let you know if she wins!!!

Look Who's READING!

We were told at the beginning of the school year that our Kindie would be reading by Christmas. I have to admit I was in disbelief. But here were are, not even half way through Kindergarten and Bronwyn brought home her first reading book assignment. She has to read it a few times each night. She wanted to read it to Hayden and here they are! Of course, my kids are grossly prepared to be picture ready, so not only was Hayden waiting for the "click" during the video, they get in pose mode right at the end.

Zoo for 3 please!

The kids and I decided that we really needed to take advantage of a couple of warm weather days and get another trip to the Denver Zoo in. We headed right after Bronwyn got out of Kindergarten. Not sure what it was about today, but we were able to see all kinds of fun things! So many of the animals were way more active than normal. Maybe they were just enjoying the warm weather too! Bronwyn and Hayden were lots of fun and stopping to get silly pictures everywhere! So glad we got to get out today. It's days like these I enjoy the most... good last minute fun!

Hayden earns his yellow belt!

Hayden has been taking a Kenpo Karate class for the last two months and just had his test for his yellow belt. He demonstrated his skills and passed his testing! It's exciting to see him focused and learning something that is fun for him and teaching him great defense skills.

Anderson Farms 2012

It's a yearly tradition to go to Anderson Farms and it is one of my favorite ones we have! As always, the day starts out at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Afterwards we head out to the pumpkin farm. This year it was all of my family - my parents, and both of my brothers and their families.

Each year seems like more fun than the last for the kids as they can always do more and remember more. The wagon ride to the pumpkin patch is always my favorite. We always have the kids each pick a small pumpkin. Searching through the field is lots of fun!

The weather was perfect so the day turned out to be great! We took a trip through the corn maze this year and the kids loved running through and thinking they knew the way out. (So did Grandpa! Haha!)

Favorite Time of Year

This is definitely our favorite time of year. There is so much to do and such fun places to take the kids. One moment we will not miss is playing in the fallen leaves. We had some friends over so a little raking and a lot of playing took place! They ran down the hill of the side of our yard and tried to jump into the pile! then throwing the leaves up and having them flutter down seemed to be a big hit! Now to get back to the raking...

Weekend Getaway

We were invited by James and Sarah to get away for a weekend in Breckenridge. We basically shared a two bedroom apartment sized hotel room and it was so fun! There was not a lot planned, just time to relax and enjoy such a beautiful place. We stayed two nights, the first was just spent in the room, settling in and hanging out. Then Saturday we went to Keystone and rode paddle boats out on a lake. We got in a little girl time afterwards of shopping down the main street in Breckenridge. Then we spent some time in the pool! It was a great weekend. Our two families get along so well and the kids all love being together. So glad we got the chance to do this!

Family Fun at Heritage Square

Another place I always had fun going to growing up was Heritage Square. My family all went over the weekend and even though so much has changed, it's still a great place to visit! Most of the shops are closed up and an amusement park basically takes over.

But the Alpine Slide is still alive and a fun thrill! I have passed up on it the last few times we have gone, but this trip it was a must for the kids to experience! It rained off and on through the day and luckily we were on our way out when a crazy downpour started!

Bronwyn and Hayden loved the rides, just need another year or two until they are out of the height restrictions! I even gave in to face painting... always feeling that it's just such a waste... but they were so excited. That made it worth it! Glad that we made time to get out there!
