Bronwyn's 1st trip to the ER!

Last night we had quite a scare! Danny and I were sitting on the couch with Bronwyn when she went to slide down from Danny's lap. Something she has done a countless number of times. Although this time she crashed right into the edge of the coffee table. Immediately she developed a very large knot on her forehead that had a long purplish color line through it. We tried to ice it right away, and of course Bronwyn would not have it. She screamed and screamed and screamed some more... until she realized that Sesame Street was still on TV and then just wanted to go back to watching it. We, on the other hand, were very scared. I called my mom to see if we would be crazy to take her into the emergency room. She thought we should go. She said sometimes they need you to keep kids awake and up for awhile and we should be sure. I was so worried about it being her head, especially running the length from her hairline to her eyebrow!

So we quickly packed out and headed to the hospital. They were able to see her pretty fast. A doctor came in and checked her heartbeat and breathing. She checked her eyes and her ears for any signs of a concussion. It appeared everything was fine. They are calling it a hematoma (a collection of blood, generally the result of hemorrhage, or, internal bleeding)! Bronwyn was completely content as she was poked and prodded. They let us know how to follow-up with her care and what to expect as far as the changes to the bruising on her head. Once we got back home Bronwyn was her usual self. She played and giggled and never seemed to notice any pain.

After and bath and some milk I took her down to bed. She let me take a few more pictures and she snuggled in to sleep. I made sure to set my alarm for a couple of times during the night just to check on her. This morning she seemed fine also. And surprisingly enough, her lump seems to have gone down. No discoloration yet, but I'm sure that'll happen soon. Just another day in the life of Bronwyn! I know eveyone with kids has experienced something like this at one time or another. It was our first real accident and we just had to be sure she was okay! Lots of tears and $100 Emergency Room visit... but all worth it to make sure my baby lasts forever!!!

Under Construction!

Under Construction
Our driveway is being torn out today for repaving. Seems that with the huge amounts of snow we had in the last two winters, alot of the concrete is cracking and chipping. It's a pain for us because we can't use our drivway and have to cross our fingers and hope to find a "guest" space available. We have a shared drivway with two other homes so there are quite a few of us that need places to park for the next five days. Not to mention that they just finished another shared drivway and those six people need to find parking too!

Bronwyn likes to watch the workers from the window. Maybe she's just destined for a future in construction... observing from the side... she can become a project manager! Grandpa Binford will be so proud! She would run between the window and the sliding door trying to catch a better view! Then, when the guys outside took a break... so did Bronwyn!

A fun day in the water!

Today we spent the afternoon at the Cherry Creek Reservoir for a company pinic that Binford Electric was invited to. Right after getting there Danny wanted to take Bronwyn down to the water. She seemed a little afraid at first but once everyone started kicking off their shoes and joining in, she really got into it. After eating we took her down again and she sat right down in the water with the waves slapping right against her. She had her sand toys and made a few friends and did not seem eager to leave! It was so fun to walk along through the sand with her. Of course... we had the camera ready!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Fathers Day - 2008

Today we celebrated Father's Day first with Danny's dad and family and then we moved on to my dad's house. It's always fun getting together with all the family! At Jim's house we bar-b-qued and the kids had fun playing in the pool and the sprinkler. I made a fabulous Strawberry Cream Trifle dessert... okay, Danny did help but I was short on time! Bronwyn was a little exhausted after all the fun and slept while we ate again at my dad's house. She woke up for a little play at the end of the day. It was definitaly a busy day but lots of fun celebrating the dad's we love!

Another day on the deck...

Today we spent the day with my parents working on their deck. Between the permits and inspections it sure takes alot of time to get things going! But I guess if you want it done right... While my dad and Danny worked on the railing of the deck and my mom stained the wood, someone had to watch Bronwyn. I was happy to help! I got a little napping, little sunbathing, and a little relaxing in!
Here's some progress:

And the success continues... at least in her mind!

So this is a funny one. Yesterday morning Danny and I were talking and Bronwyn was just hanging out and playing. I noticed she walked into the bathroom and I heard the sound of the toilet lid lift and be put back down. Then she walked out, went right over to her play kitchen, turned on the sink (it makes the sound of the water) and turned it off and then clapped for herself.

I thought it was too funny and was wondering what exactly she was so proud of. She had pooped in her diaper but apparently knew what was happening and she pretty much went on with the rest of the routine! The only part she missed was the getting-it-in-the-potty piece! Now, I may be biased, but she sure seems pretty smart!!!

Update on the potty progress!

So it's been a week since the first tinkling on the potty chair. I am pleased to report that since then we have had a little more success! I can usually catch Bronwyn doing this little "squat" when she's either peeing or pooping in her diaper. So I just ask her if she needs to go potty and if she looks excited we run to the nearest bathroom. One day she tried on the potty with no luck, only to pee on the floor once I let her off the seat. We were out for a night with the girls over the weekend and she tried to go potty at my friends house only to try and... again... pee on the floor! (Sorry Lisa!) But, hey, at least she's getting it in the right room! Monday after getting home I saw Bronwyn starting "squat" posistion and we ran into the bathroom. She sat on the big toilet with her small seat insert and we waited a bit. I knew there was something on it's way so I started singing songs to her to keep her sitting and giggling! And then it happened! Her first poop on the potty!

YAY! smiley
So exciting! We're not really pushing it. Just letting her sit and see what happens! But I feel like we may just be on the right track!

You probably won't believe this...

... but it really happened!

About a week or so ago I caught Bronwyn hiding around a corner and I knew she was pooping. She was right outside the bathroom door and actually pointed to the door. (Small sidenote: We always have to keep the bathroom door closed or else she runs in and grabs the toilet paper and brings it to you... regardless of where you are!) I knew she had already pooped in her diaper but I took her in and let her sit on the big toilet and "try". She thought she was something special but of course had nothing to give! A couple times since when I "catch her in the act" I put her on the toilet but again, it's too late for anything more.

Over the weekend I bought her a little potty chair and just set it up this morning. We were downstairs cleaning and such when I saw her bend down a bit and pause. I asked her if she wanted to go potty and brought her and set her on the seat. She immediaetly gave a small push and I heard the tinkling in the potty!!! She really seemed like she knew just what she was doing! Luckily, today is a work-from-home for Danny so he was just a door away! I know he is thrilled to have been there for this first time event! We grabbed the camera so we could share! Once she was done we gave high-fives and showed her her "deposit"! Then we let her flush her pee-pees in the big toilet.
Of course, this may have been a one time thing but I think we'll just try once in the morning each day for a bit and see if she catches on! She's only 15 months old so we surley won't be disappointed if we need to wait. But we sure are excited!!!

And for a little more fun...

Bronwyn also got a sand table this weekend!
(Thanks again Grandma and Grandpa!xoxo)
Bronwyn has been over to her friend Kaitlin's house and played in her sand table a bit and seems to really enjoy it. So I looked and looked for the right one! We're keeping it on our patio off our main level which works well. Bronwyn can step on out and play anytime and we're really close by. She loves the shovel ~ doesn't put it down much! She even tried to clean up the sand that landed on the patio! She was very serious while playing... like she was really into it! Now her friends can come over and try hers out! Bronwyn's ready to have you over!

I won't let a little thing like no grass keep Bronwyn from having a pool!

For those who don't know... we live in what some might call a patio home. It's three levels and tons of space, we just don't have our own grass! But we do have a driveway and that is where I decided we could set up a pool for Bronwyn!
I went out and got her a pool (Thanks Grandpa and Grandma small hearts.)and some fun toys and a little roll of fake grass and we were on our way!
Bronwyn was so excited while we were blowing and filling it up. She kept playing in the water and had no problem stepping in with her shoes and socks to reach a toy!

Once it was ready her friend Lorin came over with our friends Julie and Nick and played for awhile! They seemed like they had a lot of fun!
